Milk Bath Wine Bottles

My newest creation comes from some empty wine bottles and some great ideas I saw on Pinterest. I wanted to make something that not only was a useful  product, but something that showcased some of "me" in my product. I find it is really easy to go with the marketing flow and just slap a label on a product and move on. Yet anyone who knows me, knows that I am so much more then a label on a bottle.
I love to be different, think out side of the box and even over do. So when I saw some decorative wine bottles my little brain got very excited. I wanted to make some wine bottles with flair and personality. This was the birth of my new Milk Bath Collection Line.
I have been working on giving each new scent a unique look and color. I want them to be something that goes on the edge of your tub with pride and not stuffed under the sink. I also wanted to make sure it had an element of the Secret Garden to it, so the metal skeleton key came about. I think I also like that they are recycled wine bottles and not just another manufacture jar that I bought in bulk.
Now I am working on the hand crafted stoppers to match each Drink scent. These should be ready in just a week or two, and out on the web store @ www.secretgardenbath.com

the scents are going to be Sparkling Blood Orange, Blackberry Wine, Champagne Bubbles, Raspberry Fizz & Sangria.

January 2013 Product Preview

This January you will be seeing some old favorites revamped and some new products.

January theme is

 "Drinks,Drinks,Drinks...Oh My"

I am going to be picking a theme each month and base some old & new products off of it.

So in January you can expect to see products coming out in scents like Blackberry Wine, Blood Orange Cosmo, White Tea & Ginger.

Even some Coffee scents like Brazilian Nut, Irish Cream Bailey's & Cappuccino.

Some old products will get a new scent spin like the Minute Mani. It has Neroli Essential Oil in it for softer cuticles. Because this is the oil from those tiny white flowers on the orange trees I have decided for January to make Minute Mani in Blood Orange. It is a nice compliment to the Neroli Oil.

The Shea Butter Sugar shower scrubs even got a lift with Blood Orange Cosmo, White Tea & Ginger and Champagne Bubbles.

Even more products will be coming out by January, Like Coffee Flavored Lip Balms, Drink Scented Shea Butter lotion Bars, Drink Soaps and more. So keep watching the web store everyday for new products being posted.  Come visit us @ www.secretgardenbath.com
And see our Tweets on Twitter and follow us on Pineterst.

Exfoliating Lip Cream

I have been having some pretty dried lips lately. I'm not sure if it was the move from Las Vegas climate to Colorado climate, or maybe it was coming out of Winter. But all I know is my lips have been dry, cracked, bleeding and in pain for about 5 weeks.
I finally got around to creating a recipe that I thought would offer all the benefits my lips were in need of. I wanted to go beyond Shea Butter, Beeswax and an oil. I think I got it!!!
I added things I really felt could help and heal, like Calendula Oil, Vitamin E oil and a great trio mixture of Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil and Sunflower Oil. I am happy with the results :) My lips after just three applications are no longer cracked or dry. They feel moisturized and soft again. The pain and burning stopped and I noticed I stopped biting at dead skin and creating craters.
I think this Exfoliating Lip Cream should be a must have in every pocket and purse. Not to mention GREAT for little ones. It's all natural, safe if swallowed and the sugar and flavors will make it fun and they can heal their tiny lips without worry.
It comes in a 1 oz jar and cost $4.00, and honestly I think with the small amount you use, it could easily last a year.
The first Flavor is Chai Tea, but don't worry there are ten more to come. Just to name a few...Red Velvet, Lavender-Vanilla, Sangria, Cotton Candy & Lemon pound  cake.

Soap, Soap, Soap!

I am exciting to be pouring soap once again. I feared after the move to Colorado I would lose some soap business.Yet once again here I am, creating, mixing and making beautiful soap. Because I have suffered most of my life with sensitive skin and so many store brands break me out, I enjoy using a good bar of soap that suds up, smells great, doesn't hurt and leaves me feeling clean and fresh. That is why I love making my own soap! Every member of my family uses my soaps and this makes me feel great. For I know they are getting a wonderfully safe product that won't hurt them.
If you love soap, but fear the rashes, itching and soap film, then try one of mine!!
White tea & Ginger (Bottom Peach soap) Spiced Mahogany for Men (With Rope) Peach~Orchid~Apricot (With Oatmeal) Plain Peach~Orchid~Apricot, Sage-Lemongrass (Round Green) Acne Bar (With Red Jojoba Beads) All made with Natural Shea Butter And Olive Oil: $5.00 to $6.00 each

Lotion Bar Fun

I have been researching why Lotion Bars are so popular. I have to say that I can't find huge differences in a solid lotion bar and cream lotion. There is some thought that a lotion bar does not wash off like a cream lotion. Which is nice, you aren't having to reapply it with every hand wash.
From what I can see if you are buying "Natural" either form of lotion is good. That is why testing and trying the lotion bar made a "lover for the Bar" out of me.
The feeling is defiantly different. I did find that it stayed on me much longer, even with hand washing, laundry and more. I so loved the way it just melted into my skin, creating a wonderful barrier between my skin and the elements of weather and life. The bee's wax is a wonderful ingredient, it is an antibacterial and anti-fungal  product, but it is also an anti-inflammatory agent. So it will help with chapped, dry and cracked skin. Bee's wax has also been known to help with some symptoms of allergies, hay fever, arthritis and even aging skin.
Instead of petroleum or mineral oils, I used Coconut Oil and Calendula Oil. Both know for their amazing skin healing properties. They are very gentle oils that moisturize beautifully. They don't sit on top of the skin, but soak in and down to where your skin needs it most.
These also have Shea Butter which is wonderful for moisturizing your skin. It soaks in and never clogs your pores. It will revitalize your skin with it's own natural vitamin's of A, E and F, and help your skin maintaine natural moisture all day.
I think the final thing I really like is that it was easy to use. I could easily rub the bar on my elbows, knees and heals. I have to say I really liked the lotion bar and my head is racing with all the different types of Butters and Oils I can use. Not to mention the scent factor. Today I made Oatmeal~Lavender and Tangerine~Fig bars.
I can see a great deal of fun lotion bars in stock soon!!!

Settling In Comfortably!

I think I am getting pretty settled into my new office. I am starting to order ingredients, containers and labels, so this means I must be ready to open the doors soon. The office is not finished, yet it is workable. I'm waiting on my hubby to finish the Essential oil rack and make me some custom counters to work on, but other then that I think I'm ready to get back to work.
I already have several events on the calender for my company to attend, and faithful customers are calling in orders daily. I will be so excited to see boxes leaving my office once again!
I am working on some great lines to add this year. One being my dog line. I started it before I left Las Vegas, but now with the Dog Expo coming up in August I have to perfect it!! So watch for sample volunteer requests. I will be shipping out dog shampoos, breath mint bones, cracked paw pad repair and more for our furry friends to test market.
Some new lines to watch for this year: Dog Care, Belly to Baby, Teen and a Menopause Line (Thanks to Mother nature being so kind to me)
It is starting to look like a working Lab.

From the Ground UP!

Here we go, work on the office has begun. I am finally to a point where I feel the house is unpacked and ready for life. Now I can but my time and efforts into the business.
When I first stepped foot into the Office I was lost!! It was a pile of boxes and missed place items. I almost wanted to just shut the door and walk away.

This was a mess that I just wasn't sure I  had the strength to tackle. Yet with some encouraging words and a little creative juices from my wonderful Husband, the mess began to take on some order.
I am still a long way from done, but I am less mess and all the boxes are opened and empty.

Now I see the start of what is going to be a beautiful and productive new office.
I am excited to start creating my products again!!

Displacement Makes for Discoveries!

After weeks of disappointment from using a store bought face scrub, I found out something about one of my own products. I have been out of my Lavender~Honey Sugar face scrub and without all of my supplies at my finger tips I was forced to go store bought.
This face scrub has really been disappointing. My face feels dry and has little skin flakes left on it. So out of desperation I grabbed my Shea Butter Shower Scrub today and used it on my face. I have to say that even though

this product was never meant for the face, it worked better then the face scrub I was using. The sugar in this scrub exfoliated off my dry flaky skin, while the warm water melted the Shea Butter into my face and left my skin feeling moisturized all day.
I am excited to bring this concept to my product kitchen once we move and the lab is set up. I really think I can turn this into a wonderful new Face Cleanser with Exfoliation. Funny how a little displacement can help create a whole new line.
Don't worry...My Shea Butter Shower Scrub will not change. It will remain as wonderful as it has always been.

Growing a New Garden

I am excited to moving into my new home. I am going to get to transform a room into my new Office/Lab. I have been cutting out design ideas, shelf ideas, office furniture and more from every magazine I come across. I really want this office to be warm, inviting and Yes, even a Secret Hide Away from the world. I will be having a special area for the first time for clients to sit with me and be able to be part of their Signature Scent Blending. This is so exciting for me and my clients.  We have come a long way from our first little Swap Meet Booth.

Good For your Mind, Body & Soul

My motto for my business has been "Good For your Mind, Body & Soul". Now when I decided to use this it was to express to the consumer just how good my all natural products were for their entire lives. I wanted people to fully understand that my products could offer results without fear of side-affects or harm down the road.
Yet I have to say lately my motto has taken on a different meaning for me. With this move from Las Vegas to Colorado, I feel like those words mean more somehow. My mind is always spinning with thoughts about reopening my business. "Do I do just the same as I was doing in Las Vegas?" "Do I add some new lines of products?" "Should I venture out to events and fairs?"  For a brief two weeks I tried to think of a new business name, thinking new state-new name. Yet in the end what was good for my mind was to stay on track and just "Stay Me!"
I did find that the move did more then stir up my mind, it did a job on my body as well. The physical pain of moving furniture & boxes. The mental pain of a 24 hour roads trip with two teens and three dogs in a car. The exhausting mental fatigue of arguing, getting off track with finances and plans. Then the fact that I fell and hurt myself while unloading the truck for the third time in three days. I was out of my products, I was not able to get to my supplies to make more and was forced to use things from the store. This is where I found that "Good for your Body" was really true. I found that I really did like my products and how well the worked.
Which brings me to "Good for your Soul". When you are using a product that not only works, but you really like, you just feel good inside and out. My business has been all of these things. It has taken me down a path that I love. Everyday I am researching, learning and developing new ideas and products. This has truly been a journey of self discovering, self-esteem and acceptance.
So I do think "Good for your Mind, Body & Soul" sums up my business. I just never knew how much.
